Wordsong às 22h30 no Mercado Negro

Wordsong é o premiado e criticamente aclamado projecto multimédia em que Pedro d'Orey (Mler If Dada), Alexandre Cortez (Rádio Macau), Nuno Grácio, Filipe Valentim (Rádio Macau) e alguns artistas convidados (como João Peste dos Pop dell'Arte, JP Simões ou Vítor Rua) transformam, manipulam, desconstroem e reconstroem em experiências sonoras de formato melódico-electrónico a poesia de autores portugueses. Partindo das obras de Al Berto e Fernando Pessoa, os Wordsong trazem-nos um evento único, numa abordagem transdisciplinar que combina música e o trabalho vídeo de Rita Sá, interpretando as palavras dos dois poetas com total liberdade criativa.

Antes da Laurie Anderson, esteve no ar um extracto desta ópera. Ontem, esqueci-me de lançar o post. Ei-lo, para quem quiser consultar e continuar a saborear a amostra.

DUST, an opera by Robert Ashley and Yukihiro Yoshihara (video direction) whose imaginary setting is a street corner anywhere in the world, where those who live on the fringes of society gather to talk, to each other and to themselves, about life-changing events, missed opportunities, memory, loss and regret.

Five "street people" recount the memories and experiences of one of their group, a man who has lost his legs in some unnamed war. As part of the experience of losing his legs, he began a conversation with God, under the influence of the morphine he was given to ease his pain. Now he wishes that the conversation, which was interrupted when the morphine wore off, could be continued so that he could get the "secret word" that would stop all wars and suffering. (90 minutes)

Perfect Lives

Robert Ashley, solo voice; Jill Kroesen and David Van Tieghem, chorus; "Blue" Gene Tyranny, keyboards; David Van Tieghem, non-keyboard percussion; Peter Gordon, music producer; Paul Shorr, soundtrack producer.

Perfect Lives has been called "the most influential music/theater/literary work of the 1980s." At its center is the hypnotic voice of Robert Ashley. His continuous song narrates the events of the story and describes a 1980's update of the mythology of small town America. Perfect Lives is populated with myriad characters revolving around two musicians — "R", the singer of myth and legend, and his friend, Buddy, "The World's Greatest Piano Player". They have come to a small town in the Midwest to entertain at the Perfect Lives Lounge. As Robert Ashley describes in the opera synopsis, "they fall in with two locals to commit the perfect crime, a metaphor for something philosophical: in this case, to remove a sizable about of money from The Bank for one day (and one day only) and let the whole world know that it was missing."

The eloping couple, Ed and Gwyn, the old people at the home, the sheriff and his wife (Will and Ida) who finally unravel the mystery, and Isolde who watches the celebration of the changing of the light at sundown from the doorway of her mother's house are some of the characters who journey through the seven episodes of the opera.

Derived from a colloquial idiom, Perfect Lives transforms familiar material into an elaborate metaphor for the rebirth of the human soul. It has been called a comic opera about reincarnation.

Como cantará Patti Smith? Devota da arte da poesia, amou Allen Ginsberg e William Burroughs, mas não esqueceu a tradição romântica de heróis como Robert Louis Stevenson, Rimbaud e William Blake. No lançamento do livro, Smith citou Blake para se descrever a si própria. Disse: "We contain multitudes. And we really do. So we have to look at all aspects of the human being."

The Dial-A-Poem Poets (Giorno Poetry Systems), 1978

Big Ego é um dos 4 álbuns editados pela Giorno Poetry Systems, uma "marca artística" americana criada por John Giorno. Giorno queria que a poesia fosse comunicada às massas por via de todos os suportes tecnológicos e mediáticos, como o telefone, a televisão ou a rádio. O registo audio tornava-se assim fundamental. John Giorno reuniu músicos e performers que se viriam a tornar famosos. É o caso de Frank Zappa, Philip Glass, Allen Ginsberg, John Cage, Brion Gysin, Diamanda Galas, Laurie Anderson ou Meretith Monk. Nos próximos tempos, vou passar alguns desses registos. Education of the Girlchild, de Meredith Monk é o primeiro. Enjoy it!

O ano passado estas três senhoras vieram a Portugal. Perdi a Galas na Casa da Música, mas ganhei a Laurie Anderson em Montemor-O-Velho e a Meredith em Aveiro.

Allen Ginsberg's First Blues acaba de sair

É o opus de Allen Ginsberg. esse mesmo, o poeta da Beat Generation. o mito beatnik. Canções escritas e interpretadas por ele, entre 1971 e 1981. O LP saiu em 1983 mas o compact disc teve que esperar por este século. First Blues conta com a participação de David Amram, John Scholle, Happy Traum, e, é claro, Bob Dylan, que sempre o encorajou a escrever e que foi o primeiro a levá-lo a um estúdio de gravação. Anne Waldman, poetisa e co-fundadora com Ginsberg da Escola Jack Kerouac de Poéticas Desincorporadas, também aparece como vocalista. Cultivem o lema beat: art in everyday life. se vos apetecer. mas uivem sempre:

Eu vi os expoentes de minha geração destruídos pela loucura,
morrendo de fome, histéricos, nus,
arrastando-se pelas ruas do bairro negro de madrugada em busca
de uma dose violenta de qualquer coisa

Jean Cocteau, poête, écrivain, peintre a été le premier artiste à utiliser le phonogramme non comme un moyen de témoignage mais comme un véritable outil de création à part entière. Il Invente le théâtre sonore, qui donnera plus tard les dramatiques radiophoniques. Link

Temos estado a ouvir Cocteau a declamar La Toison d'Or, um poema retirado do seu livro Opera. Esta leitura foi gravada a 12 de Março de 1929. É acompanhada pela Orquestra de Jazz de Dan Parrish: Vance Lowrey no banjo, Dave Peyton na percussão, James Shaw no clarinete, Crickett Smith no trompete e Dan Parrish no piano.
